Rules & Regulations

(Amended Jan 29, 2006)

Safety is the primary emphasis when using this range. This cannot be over emphasized.  Disregard of the rules may result in termination of membership. The following rules and regulations are to be observed by all members and guests when using this range:

FOUR CARDINAL SAFETY RULES

1.      Always consider all guns as “Loaded.”

2.      Always point the muzzle in a safe direction.  Remember the “Laser Rule.”

3.      Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you are on target and have decided to fire.

4.      Be sure of your target and what is beyond (and around) it.

The “Condition Check” Rule of Safe gun Handling

Whenever you pick up a gun that has been out of your direct control, even for an instant, open the action to check and see whether or not the gun is loaded.

SPECIFIC RANGE RULES

1.      Know and obey all range commands.  Designate a range officer when none is present or assigned.

2.      Approved eye and ear protection is mandatory for all shooters and spectators on the line.

3.      No one is allowed to go forward of the firing line until all guns are safe and the command has been given to go forward by the designated range officer.  No gun handling is allowed while anyone is down range!

4.      During a cease-fire, either holster the handgun (a loaded, holstered pistol is considered safe) or remove the magazine, unload, open the action, and bench the firearm.

5.      Store guns so that they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.

6.      Target frames are to be used for holding targets and are not to be fired at deliberately.  Do not use ammunition that will damage metallic targets.  If you are unsure, ask first! Pistol ammo only as a rule, and buckshot. NO slugs or rifle ammo!

7.      Shoot only at authorized targets.  No glass targets are allowed.  All targets must be cleaned up after each use and returned to PROPER LOCATION! Broom sweep the line!

8.      Tracer or any ammunition considered to be incendiary or explosive is strictly prohibited.

9.      Use of alcohol prior to or while using the range is prohibited and grounds for immediate termination as a member of this facility.

10.  No smoking is allowed on the firing line.

ADMINISTRATIVE RULES

 A.      Members must wear their club ID-card while at the facility.

B.     Members are responsible for the actions of their guests.  A member must accompany all guests and children at all times.  Guests can shoot only under the direct supervision of a member.

C.     With the exception of formal competition open to the public, any guest that uses the range in excess of three (3) times per year must apply for club membership.

D.     Any member observing misuse of the range or dangerous practices must report the incident to the Executive Committee (208-773-3624) immediately.

E.     Vandalism should be reported to the Sheriff’s Office (208-446-1300 or 911) for immediate action.

F.      This is a “Pack it in, Pack it out” facility.  Please cleanup the facility before you leave.

G.     Members are responsible for ensuring that all gates and buildings are closed and locked when entering and leaving the range.

H.     The parking area is located next to the bermed pistol range, Bay 6.  Do not park behind the covered lines.  The road behind the lines is for loading and unloading as well as maintenance and emergency access.

Disregard of any of these rules will result in immediate review of that member by the Executive Committee and could result in termination of membership.

I have read and understand completely the above regulations and agree to abide by them. I also understand that any changes and/or additions to these rules that may be necessary in the future and are properly posted and announced, will also apply as if they were included above.
