FRGC UPDATE

Hi, everyone! This is just a quick update before the upcoming shoot on January 29th and to let everyone know how our first work day of 2008 turned out.

We had a great turn out for the work day and we want to thank everyone that showed up to help “spruce up” the range. We still have a lot to do, but we got a lot done. Winters can be hard on the range and this past winter was especially hard on the range. The storage shed was cleaned out and repaired on work day and the door was replaced by the Overhead Door Company about 10 days later. It is in much better shape now and we will be making plans to move the building in the near future.

We also got the garbage picked up, brass raked up, made many trips to the dump and even got the inside of the clubhouse somewhat cleaned up! The electrical/generator room has not looked that good in a long time! All in all, it went very well and we had a great meal of burgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings!

We want to recognize and thank the following members for all their help!

Jim and Kathy Maupin    William Moncrease    Mark Griffin   Michael Kebba

Ralph and Judy Smith     Ed and Janet Epochal   Vauughn Donald   Lyle Tipton

Ray Bassler     Tom Car   Paul and Teresa Anderson   Kevin Sklark   Bob Smith

Justin Crockette    Janet Bunke   John Bule (? Can’t read the handwriting on that one!)

Thank you one and all!

Please be aware that a new storage cabinet is in the clubhouse. It replaces the little metal chest next to the heater that held paper products and stuff that we wanted to keep away from the mice. This cabinet is HUGE and holds all the coffee/cocoa/tea supplies as well as all paper products, like the paper plates, paper towels, toilet tissue, cups and napkins. You are welcome to use these supplies, we just ask that all unused supplies be returned to the cabinet (like the sugar, creamer, etc) and the cabinet be shut TIGHT to keep out the mice! Please keep the cabinet neat and tidy and I will label the shelves so everyone will know where to put stuff! Thanks!

As many of you may be aware, some bozos knocked down the big sign at the entrance to the range. We have replaced that sign so many times, we have lost count. It is always just a matter of time before some loser destroys it. If the road improvements go as planned, that sign would have been moved anyway, but, this is different. This is vandalism pure and simple and a report was filed with the police. More than likely, any future sign will be placed behind the second gate.

Our road conditions are pretty good. We are getting a lot of rain now, so we have ruts and puddles, but it is still pretty easy to get in and out.

We are getting ready to do the electrical to the pump house, so soon we will have water! We are also working on more improvements that you will see as the year goes on.

The Speed Challenge has been cancelled and will be moved to another Saturday or Sunday as soon as an alternate day has been selected. Due to too many volunteers having to pull out because of other things that have come up in their lives and schedules, we did not have enough people to run the shoot. That happens. All we can do is move it and try again! As soon as we have a new dates, I will call all the volunteers and let the membership know of the new days and time.

Just a reminder that Public Day is the first Sunday of each month. So, if you have been trained in Safety Checks and would like to volunteer to work one of the Public Days, please call the office and pick a Sunday! Public Day, which is also Safety Check day, is from 10-4 and is normally a pretty quiet day. Pack a lunch and a good book, or, do a little raking and sweeping, or…shoot! As a rule, the “public” rarely shows up, but new members to safety check usually do. If you are interested and cleared to do safety checks, just call and we will go over the details.

It is not too soon to remind everyone that the Annual Dinner and Meeting will be on December 6th! Hey, it’s June! We are halfway thru 2008! So mark the date on your calendar! It will be at the CDA Inn on Appleway in Coeur d’Alene as usual. And as always, the price is $30 per plate and payable in advance. We would like to invite everyone to attend. Members that come once, come back every year after! We would especially like to welcome and invite all our new members and encourage them to attend. Great food, great meeting, fun and prizes for all! For the last few years we have had 60 members in attendance! Wow! The meal is a fabulous buffet and there is a no-host bar. Make plans to come join us!

Someone left a pair of “Wolf Ears” type ear protection at the range. They were found by another member and reported to the office. If these belong to a club member, or possibly the property of a guest of a member, call the office to claim!

We have yet another DPMS AR-15 to raffle off!! How about that? The good people at DPMS DONATED the rifle to us so all money made from the raffle is profit for the club! Their act of generosity is appreciated more then they know so let’s start buying up those tickets! The raffle tickets are $10 each and the drawing will be at the annual meeting. Tickets will be available at the meeting and all throughout the year.  Or, you can call and order them over the phone (we accept Visa and Mastercard) or you can send a check and I can then send the tickets in the mail. So…how many can we put you down for?
